Senior Software Engineer - COBOL
Job Summary
Supporting the Long Term Care policy administration system, the full-time Senior Software Engineer - COBOL will monitor and resolve system issues, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and design, code, and test solutions while working in a hybrid environment in Lynchburg or Richmond, Virginia.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor and resolve system failures, job abends, and policy-related incidents for the CLOAS application
- Analyze user-reported incidents, propose solutions, and implement changes following established processes
- Create reports for data analysis to support business activities and fulfill regulatory requirements
Required qualifications
- 4-year college degree and relevant experience with COBOL, JCL, CICS, and IMS programming
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand complex business logic and system functionalities
- Basic experience with SQL and data analysis
- Experience in a cross-functional team environment, preferably in the insurance or finance domain
- Continuous improvement mindset and willingness to adapt to new technologies
