Staff Attorney for Legal Services
Job Summary
A company is looking for a Legal Services Project Staff Attorney to coordinate and grow its Legal Services Project focused on issues connected to the criminalization of trans people.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the Legal Information Helpdesk and Prison Mail Response Program, including responding to inquiries and maintaining resources
- Develop innovative strategies to improve legal assistance delivery to TGNC community members experiencing criminalization
- Recruit, train, and supervise pro bono attorneys, interns, and volunteers working on the Legal Services Project
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Project management experience or experience with program development
- Familiarity with legal issues impacting transgender communities and communities of color
- Experience with criminal defense and/or post-conviction relief
- Admission to the bar of at least one state is preferred
