Job Summary

We are looking for statisticians who would interpret data and communicate results to our clients, often with the aid of mathematical techniques and software's. He will apply statistical theories and methods to validate design of experiments, trials, and surveys. He will produce, collect, or decide the data required, and analyze it to prove the level of significance of research findings.

As a statistician, he will be involved in initial collection and designing of data, and analyze the experiments or surveys in the fields of science, technology, and management. He will interpret the data in context and identify any significant differences in relationships between sources of information. The interpretation will often be accompanied with graphs and charts prepared by him to help the author understand and make decisions on his study. He will also advise him on modifications required in his paper to present the statistical findings and recommend a strategy to explain them with clarity.



Responsibilities

The general tasks of a statistician may include a combination of responsibilities listed below:

Informing the clients and agreeing what data to collect and how it should be gathered.

Designing experiments, trials or surveys to produce the required data.

Analyzing the data through data mining tools

Conduct multifaceted statistical analysis through statistical software programs such as SAS, R, Stata, etc.

Preparing charts and graphs, interpreting the data and making sure that the right decisions are made based on the results.

Identifying any limitations that may exist with respect to reliability or usability of the data obtained/provided.

Analyzing the statistical methods and procedures adopted by client to obtain the data, and ensuring its validity, applicability, strength, and accuracy.

Identifying the relationships and trends of data, and highlight factors that might affect the results of research.

Presenting a clarified and understandable result with elaborate explanation to client.

Preparation of statistical report.



Skills desired

1. Strong knowledge of Probability, Statistics, and Applied Mathematics

2. Descriptive Statistical Methods like ANOVA, Inferential Statistical Methods, Mathematical skills, Problem-solving ability, and Strong interpretation skills

3. Aptitude to learn new problem areas, good decision-making and judgment skills

4. Strong communication skills to put forth the rationale behind interpretation to author

5. Ability to work independently

6. Basic programming with R is preferred



Required Experience

1. Preferred Ph.D. (completed or near completion) or a Master's Degree in quantitative fields such as Computer Science, Physics, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, Economic Statistics, Biostatistics, Statistics or Applied Mathematics

2. Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a data analyst in either of the fields - Life Sciences, Clinical Research, Finance, Medicine, Computer Science, Marketing, and Engineering.



Familiar with some or all of these tools

SPSS, Stata, SAS, AMOS, PLS, MATLAB, RStudio
