Developing and implementing ongoing coding training and auditing of medical records. Providing education and auditing related to the coding and documentation of medical records within the physician practice. Position Requirements Include:
Extensive, current knowledge of acute hospital coding rules, official coding guidelines and policies regarding ICD - 10 - CM / PCS, MS - DRG, and APR - DRG. Exceptional technical skills in most software applications.
Functional knowledge of facility EMR, encoder and other support software. One to three years’ experience performing medical record coding in acute care setting and must be a high school graduate.
Initiating and coordinating the product development process and data management. Regularly monitoring progress against plan and budget; communicating plan changes as needed. Qualifications Include: Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in health information management.
Working within various client systems including applicable coding compliance editor software to ensure records are accurately coded. Must meet the following requirements for consideration: Position requires excellent computer/communication skills for provider and staff interactions.
Strong people management skills to include hiring, development and performance management. Strong financial acumen skills and an awareness of how to manage projects profitably. Knowledge of quality improvement processes and approaches. AAPC or AHIMA medical coding certification.
Demonstrated experience and a proven track record in coding, training, and/or service development in a facility of significant size and complexity, hospital business operations, information systems, and coding applications, as typically acquired in 3-5 years of experience is required.
Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employees. Qualifications Include: Rare travelling may be required. Homecare coding certified (HCS-D or BCHH-C) and OASIS certification or ability to obtain within a year.
