Job Summary
A provider of business, technology and consulting solutions has an open position for a Virtual Outpatient Coder.
Core Responsibilities Include:
- Assigning codes for diagnoses, treatments, and procedures according to the appropriate classification system for outpatient encounters
- Using technical coding principals and APC reimbursement expertise to assign appropriate ICD-9-CM diagnoses and ICD-9-CM/CPT-4 procedures
- Identifying chargeable items for emergency department visits and enter into billing system
Qualifications Include:
- This position requires a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
- E/M Facility and professional fee experience
- Completion of classes in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, ICD-9 and CPT coding conventions, and disease process from an accredited program
- Must have high school diploma or GED
- Must have three years of continuous hospital experience in coding
