2D Effects Animator

Job Summary

To explore magical effects for an upcoming feature film, the temporary freelance 2D Effects Animator will design and develop hand-drawn and digitally composited effects, collaborating closely with the Visual Development team in a remote capacity.

Key responsibilities

• Design 2D effects that enhance character performance and the cinematic quality of scenes
• Collaborate with the Production Designer and Visual Development artists to iterate on magical effects
• Establish the visual language for various styles of magic throughout the film

Required qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in 2D animation or visual development, focusing on effects
• Traditional 2D animation background
• Proficiency in animation/effects software such as Photoshop, Nuke, After Effects, or similar
• Strong understanding of timing, weight, and physics in effects animation
• Creative mindset with the ability to conceptualize and iterate on ideas quickly
