Academic Book Editor

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Book Department Editor.

Key Responsibilities

• Copyedit eight to twelve academic and trade book manuscripts annually for content, style, and doctrine
• Manage book projects through editing, typesetting, proofreading, and indexing phases
• Collaborate with typesetters and freelance proofreaders to ensure project quality and efficiency

Required Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in English, Bible, theology, history, philosophy, or a closely related field
• Master's or doctoral degree in historical theology, church history, systematic theology, or biblical studies
• Familiarity with biblical languages; knowledge of Latin is a plus
• Demonstrated copyediting experience with multiple book-length academic manuscripts
• Thorough knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style
