Accounts Receivable Specialist

Job Summary

To support healthcare organizations in navigating revenue cycle challenges, the full-time Accounts Receivable Specialist will manage patient eligibility verification, claims research, and payment follow-up in a remote setting.

Key responsibilities

• Verifies patient eligibility and authorization for healthcare services while updating demographics and insurance information
• Conducts research on unpaid or denied claims, monitors claims for missing information, and contacts payers to secure payment
• Prepares claims for clinical audit processing and writes appeal letters for technical appeals as necessary

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• At least two years of experience in healthcare insurance accounts receivable follow-up, preferably within a hospital system
• Experience with accounts receivable software and navigating payer sites for appeals and claims follow-up
• Knowledge of medical business office procedures and third-party payer billing practices
• Demonstrated ability to meet performance objectives, including processing a minimum of 45 claims per day
