AI and Data Engineer

Job Summary

To support the development of AI features, the full-time remote AI and Data Engineer will build and maintain the data infrastructure, evaluation systems, and monitoring tools essential for ensuring the quality and reliability of Tern's AI capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Build and ship the systems behind Tern's AI features, ensuring reliable data infrastructure and services
• Develop evaluation systems to assess the quality of AI features, including monitoring for performance and drift
• Own data quality across ingestion, modeling, and reporting, addressing issues proactively before they impact users

Required qualifications

• Production AI/ML experience with a track record of building and shipping systems that real users depend on
• Experience in building evaluation systems for production AI features, focusing on metrics and quality assurance
• Proven ownership of data pipelines and services, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues
• High agency in driving ambiguous problems to successful outcomes without needing fully-scoped tickets
• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails or experience working directly with application databases is a plus
