AI Engineer
Job Summary
To support an external software development organization, the remote Applied AI Engineer will build and operate AI capabilities across an enterprise platform, focusing on production AI systems that meet real operational needs.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement AI capabilities, including agent runtimes, model routing, and evaluation frameworks
- Monitor production AI behavior and optimize systems for cost, latency, reliability, and safety
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to transition prototypes into reliable, production-ready AI solutions
Required qualifications
- Experience shipping software backed by LLMs, ML models, or agentic workflows to production users
- Strong understanding of AI evaluation approaches, including building evaluation harnesses and quality gates
- Proven ability to treat engineering constraints such as cost and latency as first-class considerations
- Experience building guardrails and controls for AI systems to mitigate risks associated with untrusted content
- Strong software engineering skills with a collaborative mindset for client-facing environments
