AI Engineering Director

Job Summary

Seeking a hands-on Head of AI Engineering, the full-time remote role will lead the transformation of NCT into an AI-first platform by personally designing and building foundational AI capabilities while managing team execution and modernizing legacy components.

Key responsibilities

• Personally design and build NCT's foundational AI capabilities, including RAG systems and multi-agent workflows
• Refactor legacy components into scalable, cloud-native services and automate workflows with AI-driven solutions
• Manage team execution and mentor developers to adopt AI-native engineering practices after establishing the AI factory framework

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with a focus on modernizing complex architectures
• Proven track record of shipping functional AI/ML systems end-to-end to real users
• Experience as a founding or first AI engineer, capable of delivering architecture independently
• Strong judgment regarding build-vs-buy decisions and modernization of legacy platforms
• Demonstrated leadership experience with a commitment to developing technical talent
