AI Safety Research Lead

Job Summary

To lead impactful research initiatives, the full-time remote AI Safety Research Lead will develop and execute a research agenda aimed at mitigating catastrophic risks from advanced AI, while mentoring a team and influencing external partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Articulate and implement a research agenda focused on AI safety and risk mitigation
• Grow and lead a team of technical staff to pursue the research agenda effectively
• Share research findings through publications and presentations to drive adoption and influence change

Required qualifications

• Strong existing research track record in AI or a highly technical field (e.g., CS, math, physics)
• Clear understanding of relevant AI safety research directions and their importance
• Experience leading teams or mentoring researchers in technical subjects
• Ability to communicate complex methods and solutions to diverse audiences
• Substantive engagement with the AI safety field through prior research or employment
