Job Summary

Responsible for underwriting mortgage loans to ensure compliance with investor guidelines and federal regulations, the full-time Alabama Licensed Mortgage Underwriter will work remotely to assess credit and collateral risk, resolve post-closing issues, and assist in expediting loan closings.

Key responsibilities:

• Underwrite conventional residential mortgage loans according to product and investor guidelines
• Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, as well as investor requirements
• Perform risk assessments of credit and collateral to maintain loan saleability and quality

Required qualifications:

• Associate's degree or 2 years of relevant experience
• Three years of mortgage processing or underwriting experience
• Strong understanding of investor guidelines and ability to interpret AUS findings
• Experience in resolving post-closing issues related to mortgage loans
• Knowledge of federal registration requirements under the SAFE Act
