Job Summary

Responsible for underwriting mortgage loans, the full-time remote Alabama Licensed Mortgage Underwriter will ensure compliance with investor requirements and federal regulations while assessing credit and collateral risk to maintain loan saleability.

Key responsibilities:

• Underwrite FHA, VA, and conventional residential mortgage loans according to product and investor guidelines
• Perform risk assessments of credit and collateral to ensure sound credit quality and compliance with regulations
• Resolve post-closing issues and assist management in expediting loan closings

Required qualifications:

• Associate's degree or equivalent relevant work experience (2 years plus 4-6 years mortgage underwriting experience)
• Direct Endorsement (DE) or LAPP approval preferred
• Thorough knowledge of DU/LP valuations and automated underwriting systems
• Understanding of credit risk assessment and appraisal processes
• Familiarity with industry tools to ensure loan saleability
