Job Summary

Responsible for underwriting mortgage loans, the full-time Senior Mortgage Underwriter will work remotely to assess conventional and government loans for compliance with investor guidelines and federal regulations, ensuring sound credit quality and loan saleability.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite FHA, VA, and conventional mortgage loans per investor guidelines through AUS and manual underwriting
• Perform risk assessments of credit and collateral to ensure compliance with investor requirements and sound credit quality
• Resolve post-closing issues and assist management in expediting loan closings while maintaining compliance with operational risk controls

Required qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent work experience (2 years relevant work plus 4-6 years mortgage underwriting experience)
• Direct Endorsement (DE) or LAPP approval
• Thorough knowledge of conforming and non-conforming guidelines
• Full understanding of credit risk and appraisals
• Experience with DU/LP valuations and applicable industry tools for loan saleability
