Job Summary

Focused on underwriting mortgage loans, the full-time Alabama Licensed Mortgage Underwriter will assess conventional and government loans for compliance with investor guidelines and federal regulations, ensuring loan saleability and sound credit quality while working remotely.

Key responsibilities:

• Underwrite FHA, VA, and conventional mortgage loans in accordance with product and investor guidelines
• Perform risk assessments of credit and collateral to ensure compliance and loan saleability
• Resolve post-closing issues and assist management in expediting loan closings

Required qualifications:

• Associate's degree or equivalent experience with at least 4 years of mortgage underwriting experience
• Direct Endorsement (DE) or LAPP approval preferred
• Comprehensive understanding of investor guidelines and automated underwriting systems (DU/LP)
• Thorough knowledge of credit risk assessment and appraisal processes
• Experience with unique mortgage products such as CRA or construction loans is a plus
