Alabama Licensed Mortgage Underwriter

Job Summary

Responsible for underwriting mortgage loans, the full-time Alabama Licensed Mortgage Underwriter will evaluate conventional and government loans for compliance with investor guidelines and federal regulations while working remotely.

Key responsibilities:

• Underwrite FHA, VA, and conventional mortgage loans per product and investor guidelines
• Ensure compliance with investor requirements and federal and state laws
• Perform risk assessments of credit and collateral to maintain loan saleability and sound credit quality

Required qualifications:

• Associate's degree or equivalent experience (2 years relevant work experience plus 4-6 years of mortgage underwriting experience)
• Direct Endorsement (DE) or LAPP approval preferred
• Full knowledge of credit risk and understanding of appraisals
• Thorough knowledge of DU/LP valuations and applicable industry tools
• Strong understanding of conforming and non-conforming guidelines
