Job Summary

Responsible for underwriting mortgage loans, the full-time remote Alabama Licensed Mortgage Underwriter will evaluate conventional and government loans to ensure compliance with investor guidelines and federal regulations while maintaining sound credit quality.

Key responsibilities:

• Underwrite FHA, VA, and conventional mortgage loans in accordance with product and investor guidelines
• Perform risk assessments of credit and collateral to ensure loan saleability and compliance with regulations
• Resolve post-closing issues and assist management in expediting loan closings

Required qualifications:

• Associate's degree or equivalent experience, including 4 to 6 years of mortgage underwriting experience
• Direct Endorsement (DE) or LAPP approval preferred
• Thorough knowledge of automated underwriting systems (DU/LP) and industry guidelines
• Understanding of credit risk and appraisal processes
• Ability to maintain federal registration requirements under the SAFE Act
