Job Summary

Responsible for underwriting mortgage loans, the full-time remote Alabama Licensed Mortgage Underwriter will assess loan acceptability according to investor guidelines and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations while addressing post-closing issues.

Key responsibilities:

• Underwrite conventional residential mortgage loans through AUS and manual processes in line with product and investor guidelines
• Ensure compliance with investor requirements and federal/state laws while performing risk assessments of credit and collateral
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to expedite loan decisions and closings, while staying updated on underwriting practices and guidelines

Required qualifications:

• Associate's degree or 2 years of relevant experience
• Minimum of three years of mortgage processing or underwriting experience
• Comprehensive understanding of investor guidelines and ability to interpret AUS findings (DU and LP)
• Experience in resolving post-closing issues related to loan saleability
• Knowledge of federal registration requirements under the SAFE Act
