Alaska ESA Consultation Specialist

Job Summary

Providing ESA Section 7 Consultation support, the full-time Alaska ESA Consultation Specialist will manage consultation requests, conduct informal and formal consultations, and offer technical assistance to federal agencies, with the flexibility to work remotely or from regional offices in Juneau or Anchorage, AK.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a representative for early technical assistance regarding ESA Section 7 consultation requirements
• Establish contact with action agencies and respond to consultation initiation requests within specified timelines
• Conduct informal and formal consultations, preparing necessary documentation and assessments related to ESA-listed species

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science or a related discipline
• Experience preparing Section 7 consultations under the ESA or similar environmental laws
• Knowledge of ESA-listed species and their habitats, as well as coastal and marine ecology of Alaska
• Proficiency with common databases and office productivity software
• Strong professional writing skills, capable of conveying complex biological and regulatory concepts clearly
