Working remotely on a part-time basis, the Alternate Format Text Specialist will create and remediate course materials and textbooks into accessible formats for students with approved disability accommodations, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards.
Key responsibilities
- Remediate and convert course materials, textbooks, and instructional content into accessible formats for students with disabilities
- Apply accessibility standards by correcting document structure, reading order, and adding alternative text descriptions for images and graphics
- Verify compatibility of remediated materials with assistive technologies, including screen readers
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education, information technology, assistive technology, or a related field
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with assistive technology for students with disabilities
- Expertise in various assistive software technologies
- Zero to two years of professional experience
