API Platform Engineer
Job Summary
Supporting a large federal government healthcare modernization project, the full-time API Platform Engineer will work remotely to establish API design standards, maintain API contracts, and implement security practices while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key responsibilities
- Define API design standards and review APIs for consistency and usability
- Author and maintain OpenAPI Specification contracts and associated validation standards
- Implement CI/CD and GitOps practices for automated configuration and environment management
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Hands-on experience with API management and security, including AWS API Gateway and JSON-based APIs
- Experience with identity technologies, including Active Directory and JWT-based authentication
- Proficiency in supporting Kubernetes environments and containerized workloads
- Strong analytical skills to diagnose complex API and platform issues
