Job Summary
To support modernization efforts for the U.S. Federal Government, the remote Application Modernization Engineer will decompose legacy command-code APIs into Java Spring Boot microservices on OpenShift, ensuring backward compatibility and developing migration packages.
Key responsibilities
- Decompose legacy Java services into microservices and produce necessary documentation and deployment packages
- Preserve backward compatibility for existing consumers during migration and validate service performance and connectivity
- Develop migration waves from IBM web Methods to Java microservices, including producing wave packages and supporting dual-run operations
Required qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in Java/Spring Boot development and microservices architecture, with OpenShift or Kubernetes deployment
- Experience in legacy application modernization, including service decomposition and migration planning
- Knowledge of federal IT release governance and technical documentation standards
- Experience with IBM web Methods ESB/BRE/BRMG as a migration source stack
- Active IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) required
