Applied AI Engineer
Job Summary
Working remotely as a client-facing consultant, the Applied AI Engineer will support an external software development organization by building and operating production AI capabilities across enterprise platforms, focusing on real operational workflows.
Key responsibilities
- Build and operate AI capabilities, including agent runtimes, model routing, and evaluation frameworks
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to transition AI from prototype to monitored production systems
- Monitor production AI behavior and implement improvements based on evidence and performance metrics
Required qualifications
- Experience shipping software backed by LLMs, ML models, or agentic workflows to production users
- Strong understanding of RAG, prompt design, and evaluation approaches for AI systems
- Experience building evaluation harnesses and quality control measures for AI performance
- Ability to prioritize cost, latency, reliability, and safety as key engineering constraints
- Strong software engineering skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
