Applied Data Scientist, Finance

Job Summary

Owning the design and measurement quality of datasets for financial AI systems, the full-time Applied Data Scientist, Finance will work remotely to create specifications and evaluations for multimodal financial data, ensuring compliance and accuracy in high-stakes environments.

Key responsibilities

• Translate customer goals into concrete dataset specifications and acceptance criteria for financial AI applications
• Design training and evaluation datasets focusing on unstructured financial data, including PDFs, spreadsheets, and call transcripts
• Develop evaluation methodologies that assess the robustness and fairness of financial AI systems while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of data science experience, with at least 2+ years in financial services or a regulated data environment
• Hands-on experience with unstructured and multimodal financial data, including familiarity with financial standards like GAAP or IFRS
• Strong Python and SQL skills, with experience using libraries such as pandas and scikit-learn
• Statistical literacy, including sampling design and inter-annotator agreement metrics
• Degree in a relevant field such as statistics, data science, economics, or finance, or equivalent demonstrated experience
