Job Summary
To support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Aquaculture Program, the full-time Aquaculture Program Support Specialist will provide remote assistance in coordinating the Alaska Aquaculture Opportunity Area (AOA) Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS), engaging with stakeholders, and managing outreach activities.
Key responsibilities
- Support the preparation of the AOA PEIS by coordinating meetings, tracking action items, and maintaining documentation
- Assist in public and tribal engagement efforts, including conducting meetings and preparing outreach materials
- Compile and analyze data to inform aquaculture initiatives and support consultations on related actions
Required qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in biological science, conservation biology, wildlife management, or a related field
- Knowledge of the Endangered Species Act, Marine Mammal Protection Act, and National Environmental Policy Act
- Understanding of marine aquaculture and associated species, gear types, and management issues
- Proficiency in MS Office and Google applications, including word processing and spreadsheets
- Experience with public engagement and outreach in a scientific or environmental context is preferred
