Job Summary
To support the cancer registry, the part-time Arizona Certified Tumor Registrar will maintain a data system on patients diagnosed with malignancies, retrieve and analyze registry data, and ensure compliance with accreditation requirements, all while working remotely from Arizona.
Key Responsibilities
- Identifies and reports all cases of malignant disease from various medical facility resources
- Abstracts core information from patient medical records and follows up on living patients for quality of life and survival outcomes
- Prepares charts for physician review at tumor board meetings and assists in meeting Commission on Cancer accreditation requirements
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; college-level education preferred
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a medical-related field for Level One; 3 years in cancer registry for Level Two
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, tumor nomenclature, and cancer treatment modalities
- Must possess a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) certification for Level Two
- Awareness of ACOS and State requirements for an approved cancer program
