Job Summary
To support healthcare operations, the full-time Arizona Outpatient Coder will assign and sequence ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for outpatient accounts while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and utilizing electronic medical record systems in a remote setting.
Key responsibilities
- Assign and sequence diagnostic and procedural codes for outpatient accounts based on physician documentation and coding guidelines
- Review and analyze medical records for accurate code selection and compliance with corporate coding practices
- Assist Patient Financial Services with coding interpretations and resolve routine coding issues as needed
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in a health-related field preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and HIPAA privacy rules
- Certification as CCA, CCS, CPC-H, CPC, COC, or equivalent required
- Experience in coding outpatient accounts preferred, including knowledge of Medicare and claim edit guidelines
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems and computer-assisted coding software
