Job Summary

Seeking a collaborative and deadline-driven Assistant Editor, News Hub, this full-time contract role will edit breaking news stories and quick-turn features while working four days a week from either the Washington, D.C. newsroom or remotely, ensuring urgent and indispensable coverage of significant events.

Key responsibilities

• Edit breaking news stories and quick-turn features in collaboration with other editors and writers
• Collaborate with teams on quick-turn coverage of U.S. and world news
• Analyze audience data and communicate actionable insights to writers and editors

Required qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience as a journalist covering deadline-driven news
• Self-starter with the ability to work in a constantly changing environment
• Exceptional communication and organizational skills
• Previous experience as an editor is not required
