Associate Director of Materials Science

Job Summary

Leading scientific strategic initiatives for small molecule drug development programs, the full-time Associate Director of Materials Science will manage material understanding, solid-state control, and risk management from IND through NDA and commercialization in a remote setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to and execute material science strategies, including solid-state form selection and particle engineering
• Oversee material characterization and define critical material attributes linked to formulation performance and product quality
• Lead technology transfer activities and support regulatory submissions related to materials and solid-state control

Required Qualifications

• PhD in Materials Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field, or MS with substantial relevant industry experience
• 8-12+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech drug development, focusing on small molecule programs
• Demonstrated experience with oral solid dosage forms and supporting IND and NDA submissions
• Expertise in solid-state chemistry, polymorphism, and particle engineering
• Familiarity with GMP manufacturing and technology transfer processes
