Associate Director of Patent Research

Job Summary

To support global patent procurement and enforcement, the full-time Associate Director of Patent Research will develop effective search queries, analyze competitive intelligence, and collaborate with scientists and attorneys to enhance legal services in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and perform competitive intelligence, landscape, freedom to operate (FTO), and patentability searches in collaboration with scientists and attorneys
• Analyze and organize search findings to inform strategies related to landscape, patentability, exclusivity, and FTO
• Maintain and analyze information related to research, development, commercialization activities, and competitive intelligence

Required qualifications

• B.S. degree or higher in chemistry or biological science (advanced degree preferred)
• At least 2 years of experience in patent law at a law firm or in-house position
• At least 2 years of searching or technical experience in drug discovery or pharmaceutical product development
• Fluency in nomenclature conventions for organic chemical compounds and biological drug products
• Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
