Job Summary

To steer editorial operations for a growing platform, the full-time remote Associate Editor will manage editing, publishing, and writing tasks, oversee the Planetizen newsfeed, and engage with contributors to enhance content quality and audience engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Assigning and editing editorial pieces, packaging them for publication, and shaping editorial processes
• Sourcing and publishing essential urban planning news for the Planetizen newsfeed
• Writing and formatting posts for social media and newsletters while using analytics to optimize content performance

Required qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a newsroom or editorial environment with experience managing external contributors
• Ability to handle high volumes of content in a fast-paced environment while maintaining editorial quality
• Strong judgment and critical thinking skills with a proactive approach to tasks
• Excellent time-management and organizational skills for managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience with tools such as Google Analytics, Drupal, and a strong interest in urban planning
