Job Summary
Providing primary strategic legal counsel on clinical and commercial healthcare regulatory matters, the full-time remote Associate General Counsel will support UBC's Data Privacy team, advise on complex legal issues, and ensure compliance with privacy and data protection laws in the biopharmaceutical sector.
Key responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary legal adviser on clinical and commercial biopharma services operations, focusing on regulatory and compliance issues
- Provide legal support for clinical trial documentation, operational processes, and compliance with privacy laws including GDPR and HIPAA
- Monitor legal developments affecting clinical research and data governance, recommending practical compliance strategies
Required qualifications:
- Minimum of 15 years of legal experience, including at least 7 years in-house in a clinical research organization or biopharma services
- Experience advising on global clinical trials and regulatory documentation
- Familiarity with global privacy laws and regulations, particularly in a life sciences context
- Knowledge of EU employment law and multi-jurisdictional employee relations
- Experience in privacy program implementation and data protection impact assessments
