Associate Production Editor

Job Summary

A company is looking for an Associate Production Editor to oversee the production cycle for original titles and reprints in commercial fiction.

Key Responsibilities

• Hire freelance copy editors and proofreaders, reviewing their work and managing manuscript changes
• Ensure books are on schedule and error-free while styling manuscripts for design and typesetting
• Collaborate with editorial and design teams to create timelines and troubleshoot project-related issues

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of two years' experience in a production editorial environment or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style
• Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines
• Experience with electronic review tools, including track changes in Word and mark-up tools in Adobe Acrobat
• Strong analytical skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork
