Passionate sports fans with copywriting proficiency will find a hybrid contract opportunity as an Associate Programming Editor, responsible for curating, packaging, and distributing original content across various channels, including The Athletic's web home page, app feeds, and newsletters, while working from the London office with early morning, late evening, and weekend shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Execute content programming and distribution strategy, including curation of articles, podcasts, and videos
• Identify engaging content to broaden The Athletic's reach to subscribers and potential audiences
• Write and send daily push alert notifications and develop copy that aligns with The Athletic's voice

Required qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in journalism/media, content programming, digital marketing, or social media (sports media preferred)
• Experience in writing headlines and homepage packaging with a strong attention to detail
• Data-driven and analytical, with the ability to think critically about metrics
• Extensive knowledge of football in the UK and abroad
• High-quality news judgment to identify significant stories and their relevance to the news cycle
