Associate Underwriter

Job Summary

A company is looking for an Associate Underwriter to support the acquisition and retention of profitable commercial lines customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with gathering underwriting information on renewal and new business accounts and work with agencies to obtain missing information
• Approve, modify, or decline transactions within assigned authority level and handle renewal underwriting of less complex accounts
• Prepare underwriting file documentation and manage endorsement requests, referring those outside designated authority to the underwriter

Required Qualifications

• Two years of relevant insurance experience, or a Bachelor's degree with completion of an underwriter trainee program
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
• Knowledge of commercial property & casualty forms, coverages, and underwriting principles
• Experience with the independent agency system is preferred
• Bachelor's degree is preferred, but relevant work experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis
