ATO Manager / Cybersecurity Engineer

Job Summary

Leading compliance and information assurance initiatives for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) HEDX program, the full-time remote ATO Manager / Senior Cybersecurity Engineer will design, implement, and assess systems to ensure adherence to agency cybersecurity policy and HIPAA regulations while managing authorization processes and liaising with technical teams.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead the development and maintenance of VA security authorization packages within the Continuous Authorization and Monitoring (CAM) system
• Serve as the primary liaison between the HEDX program and various VA stakeholders to coordinate Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities
• Establish and manage a Continuous Monitoring (ConMon) program to maintain security and compliance throughout the authorization lifecycle

Required qualifications:

• Master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 10+ years of experience in software development and cybersecurity
• Extensive experience with VA Continuous Authorization and Monitoring (CAM) and eMASS
• Active cybersecurity certifications aligned with DoD 8140/8570 or VA equivalents (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CASP+, or CGRC)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security clearance
