Job Summary

To support the revenue cycle team, the full-time Authorization Coordinator will verify patient eligibility, coordinate benefits, ensure insurance coverage, and obtain prior authorizations while working remotely within the Sutter Health Northern California footprint.

Key responsibilities
  • Verify patient eligibility and coordinate benefits for medical services
  • Obtain prior authorizations as needed and document in the electronic medical record
  • Respond to patient inquiries regarding authorizations within established turnaround standards
Required qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least 1 year of recent relevant experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and coding (CPT, HCPCS, ICD-9)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and Word
  • Ability to exercise discretion and make independent judgments
