Job Summary
To support the revenue cycle team, the full-time Authorization Coordinator will verify patient eligibility, coordinate benefits, ensure insurance coverage, and obtain prior authorizations while working remotely within the Sutter Health Northern California footprint.
Key responsibilities
- Verify patient eligibility and coordinate benefits for medical services
- Obtain prior authorizations as needed and document in the electronic medical record
- Respond to patient inquiries regarding authorizations within established turnaround standards
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of recent relevant experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology and coding (CPT, HCPCS, ICD-9)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and Word
- Ability to exercise discretion and make independent judgments
