Authorization Specialist

Job Summary

A company is looking for an SDC Authorization Specialist responsible for securing insurance authorizations for inpatient and outpatient procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Obtain and document prior authorizations for admissions and procedures from payers
• Conduct financial analytics to determine patient financial responsibilities and collaborate with teams to resolve authorization issues
• Communicate with patients regarding financial obligations and minimize claim denials through accurate documentation

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, finance, or related field preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience in medical authorization, patient access, or revenue cycle operations
• Strong understanding of healthcare finance and payer authorization processes
• Proficiency in interpreting payer contracts and regulatory guidelines
• Experience with EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite
