Authorization Specialist

Job Summary

To support a growing healthcare team, the full-time Authorization Specialist will manage the submission and follow-up of authorization requests to insurance payers for Home Infusion Therapy, ensuring timely approvals while maintaining communication with patients and healthcare providers in a hybrid remote setting.

Key responsibilities

• Submit initial authorization requests to assigned payers using various methods, including paper forms and payer portals
• Oversee follow-up on pending authorizations and review approvals and denials for accuracy, initiating appeals as necessary
• Maintain detailed documentation of communications and ensure compliance with HIPAA guidelines

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience in a medical office setting with patient contact
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Preferred background in medical reimbursement and authorization submission
• Strong understanding of insurance plan requirements and medical terminology
