Authorization Specialist I

Job Summary

A company is looking for an Authorization Specialist I - Remote - Per Diem.

Key Responsibilities

• Obtains and tracks authorizations/re-authorizations for patients according to insurance policies
• Initiates Peer to Peer communications with payers and collaborates with providers to secure Medical Necessity letters
• Monitors authorization work queues and troubleshoots authorization denials

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma; Associate's degree preferred
• Certification in CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or specialty coding preferred
• One to three years of experience in a healthcare environment with prior authorization experience
• Knowledge of HIPAA laws and managed care reimbursement requirements
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; experience with EPIC or similar EMR systems preferred
