AWS Cloud Security Engineer

Job Summary

To support a large-scale cloud modernization effort for a federal client, the contract AWS Cloud Security Engineer will focus on securing AWS environments, automating compliance controls, and collaborating with engineering teams to ensure secure application delivery in a remote capacity.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security controls across AWS cloud environments
• Automate security controls and compliance checks using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation
• Support alignment with security and compliance frameworks including CIS Benchmarks, NIST, HIPAA, FedRAMP, and SOC 2

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, cybersecurity, engineering, or a related field, or four additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in cloud security, cybersecurity, and AWS security
• Strong hands-on knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM, and CloudTrail
• Experience supporting secure CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
• Hands-on experience with scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automating security workflows
