Backend Developer and DevOps Engineer
Job Summary
Owning the data layer and cloud infrastructure, the remote Backend Developer and Infrastructure DevOps Engineer will implement serverless backend functions, manage data access layers, and ensure high availability and resilience against a 99.95% uptime target in a long-term contract role.
Key responsibilities
- Develop end-to-end serverless backend functions using AWS Lambda or Azure Functions
- Implement data access layers and authentication mechanisms for per-client databases
- Engineer CI/CD, observability, and failover strategies to meet uptime targets
Required qualifications
- 6+ years of backend/infrastructure experience, with 2+ years on AWS Lambda or Azure Functions in production
- Proficiency in Java, Python, or Go (Node.js not applicable)
- Experience with both document (MongoDB/DynamoDB) and relational (SQL) databases
- Knowledge of load-balancing and multi-tenant deployment in AWS or Azure
- Background in financial services or high-compliance backend/infrastructure
