Backend Engineer

Job Summary

To support the Disease Management team, the remote Backend Engineer will implement backend features in Python, write tests to ensure quality, and contribute to integrations with clinical data sources while maintaining a focus on safety and privacy.

Key responsibilities

• Implement backend features including API endpoints and data models within the Python stack
• Write and maintain meaningful tests to ensure code correctness and reliability
• Instrument code for observability and contribute to integrations with wearables and clinical data sources

Required qualifications

• Solid programming fundamentals with some backend experience, preferably in Python
• Comfort with APIs, databases/SQL, and version control
• A drive to build and ship software, with a curiosity for continuous learning
• Openness to AI-augmented development with a focus on verification
• Exposure to FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Postgres, AWS, or healthcare data is preferred
