Backend Engineer
Job Summary
To support the development of an advanced network simulation platform, the long-term contract Backend Engineer will work remotely in the EST time zone, focusing on building backend services and scalable RESTful APIs for virtualized network environments.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services for orchestrating virtualized network nodes and simulation environments using QEMU and libvirt
- Design and build scalable RESTful APIs for user deployment and management of complex network topologies
- Collaborate with software engineers and network architects to enhance features and improve user experience
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field with 4+ years of backend software development experience
- Strong programming experience in Python and/or Go, with expertise in designing and maintaining RESTful APIs
- Hands-on experience with Linux systems programming and virtualization technologies (QEMU, libvirt, Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, routing, and switching
- Experience with GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development practices
