Backend Engineer
Job Summary
To support a leading networking technology organization, the Backend Engineer - Network Platform will work remotely on a long-term contract to develop and enhance a network modeling and simulation platform by building backend services, managing virtualized network topologies, and providing scalable APIs for complex network environments.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services for orchestrating virtualized network nodes including routers, switches, and firewalls
- Design and build scalable, high-performance RESTful APIs for programmatic network topology management
- Integrate with virtualization platforms such as QEMU, Libvirt, Docker, and Kubernetes to optimize resource utilization
Required qualifications
- 4+ years of backend software engineering experience with strong Python and/or Go development skills
- Hands-on experience with Linux systems programming and virtualization technologies
- Strong networking knowledge, including TCP/IP and routing protocols
- Experience designing and supporting RESTful APIs and backend services
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
