Backend Engineer
Job Summary
Seeking a Backend Engineer for a remote, full-time position to develop and maintain digital health tools that support public health programs focused on cardiovascular health, hypertension, and diabetes control, while collaborating with engineers and program teams to enhance software reliability and scalability.
Key responsibilities
- Support the development and maintenance of backend systems and integrations for applications like Simple and DHIS2
- Collaborate with leadership and country teams to develop new features and address bugs in the Simple application
- Write and maintain Python integration scripts for the H360TK toolkit and assist in extending its use cases
Required qualifications
- 2-4 years of professional experience writing production Python code
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with modern cloud infrastructure
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS or other cloud platforms
- Experience building and supporting backend applications in a production environment
- Strong understanding of object-oriented principles and exposure to CI/CD methodology
