Backend Engineer
Job Summary
To modernize a mission-critical legacy system for international security cooperation, the full-time remote Everything Engineer with a Backend focus will manage the development of domain services, external interfaces, and financial-grade correctness while utilizing agentic AI tools in a collaborative environment.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain domain services in TypeScript/Node behind a REST API, ensuring compliance with federal financial standards
- Conduct business-rule archaeology to extract and reimplement legacy system rules, ensuring accuracy and parity through rigorous testing
- Collaborate with team members to build and integrate external interfaces with various partner systems, using a contract-first approach
Required qualifications
- US citizenship and eligibility for a US SECRET clearance
- 7+ years of experience building and operating production web systems
- Strong background in server-side and domain-model development
- Hands-on experience with agentic AI development tools (Codex and/or Claude Code) on real codebases
- Fluency in cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and security fundamentals
