Backend Engineer
Job Summary
To support the VA.gov Platform, the full-time Backend Engineer will design, develop, and maintain APIs and backend services using Ruby and Ruby on Rails in a remote setting.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and secure REST APIs
- Build reusable libraries and shared backend capabilities for multiple engineering teams
- Participate in platform modernization initiatives and ensure service reliability
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 10 years of experience as a Backend or Full Stack Engineer
- Strong experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL or other relational databases
