Backend Infrastructure Engineer

Job Summary

Owning and evolving the connector ecosystem, the full-time Backend Infrastructure Engineer will build and maintain data connectors for systems like Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, Kafka, and Postgres in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Engineer and enhance input and output connectors for various data storage and streaming systems
• Develop robust change data capture mechanisms to ensure consistent data streams into Feldera pipelines
• Design and improve shared abstractions, APIs, and tooling for efficient connector operation and testing

Required qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Rust or comparable systems programming experience with a quick ability to adapt to Rust
• Experience in building data integrations, connectors, or pipelines in production environments
• Hands-on experience with systems such as Kafka, Delta Lake, Iceberg, or Postgres
• Working knowledge of data serialization and table formats like Avro, Protobuf, JSON, and Parquet
• Understanding of distributed systems fundamentals, including delivery semantics and fault recovery
